Another area that may be effecting your hair is if you have a poor diet, ideally you need a diet that has plenty of vitamin B6 and B7 as well as the minerals zinc and magnesium. However you may have the genes which mean you have what is known as pattern baldness. With this being genetic, it means it is permanent hair loss, the good news is there are things you can do to treat it. They can include the following:-
- Surgery Surgery involves moving the permanent growing hair from the back and sides to the top of your scalp. This is the only treatment available that can really be classed as permanent, however it is not cheap as it can be between $3 and $10 per graft and the average transplanted amount of hair is normally around 500 to 2000 grafts for successful treatment. Another drawback is that it can be painful and there are some side effects that may occur as a result of surgery.
- Medication There is also a prescription medication available, and it works by reducing the testosterone in the body. The reason for this is because testosterone makes up part of DHT which is the hormone that kills the follicle. Although this treatment works, there have been claims made that it can make you impotent.
- Minoxidil Originally this was a medication for something totally different, what some bald people found when taking it was they got new hair. It is now used to fight baldness by being applien directly on the crown. No one is really sure how or why it works, but, people are getting such good results on it even the FDA has endorsed it.
These treatments can help thinning and balding hair, they will not work overnight for you, but given time they will help. Also it is wise to seek expert or medical advice before undergoing any forms of surgery or medication.
